Age 4

I love age 4! I loved when Rylan was 4 and now Rowan as well. It's exhausting, but entertaining. Our conversations never cease to surprise and/or amuse me...especially the later. Like today. Today Rowan held up two bite size Ghirardelli Sea Salt & Caramel bars & asked me to show her which one didn't "have cheese in it."

Less than 5 minutes later she held up her Ariel Mermaid Barbie, pointed to her chest & said, "What do you call those things again?" I explained that they are called breasts. She then wanted to know when she'll have breasts & when she does get them if she can have a "princess or butterfly" bra.

No sooner was I finished with that conversation & she informed me it was time for cartoons. So, I turned on the TV. I swear, what seemed like seconds later, she was at the table wanting to color...and then she wanted white paper to draw on and then she wanted me to cut the paper in half. All during this time she kept asking when Rylan will be home, not because she misses him but because it will be snack time. That was literally less than an hour of my day. I'm exhausted just thinking about it.

Birds and the Bees

Rowan came home from preschool today & completely out of the blue says, "Mommy? Boys have big long things that hang from their butts."

Outwardly, I was self controlled & just nodded my head. Inwardly I was cracking the hell up!

My response was, "Uh... are you talking about penis's? Boys have a penis & girls have a vagina. Remember? We've talked about this."

Rowan: "Oh yeah. Mine is flat. Nothing hangs."
(I'm still trying to maintain composure & not laugh out loud at her description).

I can't wait for what she tells me or asks me in the future! Lord, help me!

Wings of Freedom

I love to surprise my kids. Who doesn't? So, when Hot Husband informed me that Wings of Freedom would be bringing 3 vintage airplanes to a local airport I knew I would have to take Rylan. The P51 Mustang & B17 Flying Fortress are his 2 all time favorite planes and low and behold those were 2 of the 3 planes on display! The third plane was a B24 Liberator.

I didn't tell him where we were going, just that we were headed in the vicinity of the Gulf. More than a half mile from the airport he spotted them on the tarmac & freaked out right there in my truck. It was fantastic! He knew exactly what they were from the highway & started begging me to turn towards the airport so he could get a closer look. He had no idea it was our final destination anyway. His cousin, Madison, came with us.

Rylan had a smile from ear to ear the entire time & loved the fact we were able to go inside the planes as well. As you can see he had a good time pretending to shoot the guns, although he did point out how "unsafe" they were because you could shoot off the tail of the airplane.

He thought the bombs were "awesome!"
Madison got in on the action as well. She & I decided the seats looked way to uncomfortable to hang out for any length of time. Plus, I pointed out the fact there was no insulation on that aircraft & was a little too breezy for us. We would not have made a good WWII crew!

Despite the cold, dreary weather it was a fun day! A good way to spend their Mardi Gras day off school.
